Pop superstar Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance in Hollywood on Tuesday at the premiere of the animated film Toy Story 5, delighting fans and industry guests at the Dolby Theatre.

Swift took the stage in a full-length gown and sat at a piano, where she performed “I Knew It, I Knew You,” a song she wrote specifically for the latest installment in the long-running Pixar franchise. She told the audience she had been a lifelong admirer of the series and expressed gratitude for being invited to contribute musically.

“It means the world to me to be a small part of these films,” Swift said, reflecting on her connection to the beloved animation saga that began in 1995.

The evening’s biggest surprise came when Swift introduced an unexpected guest: legendary composer Randy Newman, known for creating the iconic scores and songs across the Toy Story films. The crowd responded enthusiastically as the two performed a duet of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” Newman’s classic from the original Toy Story, blending Swift’s contemporary style with the nostalgic sound that defined the franchise’s early success.

Earlier in the night, Swift joined members of the Toy Story voice cast on the red carpet, posing for photographs alongside Tom Hanks, Joan Cusack, and other returning actors who have long been associated with the animated series. The event brought together music and film stars in celebration of the franchise’s latest chapter.

Toy Story 5, produced by Pixar Animation Studios under Walt Disney, continues the story of the beloved animated characters that have spanned generations since the original film’s release nearly three decades ago. The franchise has become one of Pixar’s most successful and culturally influential series, known for its emotional storytelling and memorable soundtrack contributions from Randy Newman.

The new film is set for theatrical release on June 19, with anticipation building among audiences eager to see how the story continues. Swift’s involvement has added an extra layer of excitement, particularly among younger fans who connect with her music as well as the enduring appeal of the Toy Story universe.
